In the period from 20.09-21.09.2018, members of ATA Macedonia attended a two-day capacity building training for civil society organizations in Macedonia and the region organized by Globsec Policy Institute from Bratislava.

The training entitled "Training in Communication Skills" is part of a partner project entitled “Countering disinformation in Central and Eastern Europe: Mapping needs, building capacity, and generating civic activism”, which is supported by the US Department of State, and involving 8 countries / organizations from the region, including the Euro-Atlantic Council of Macedonia.

The aims of the project are directed at identifying the gaps in skills and tools of civic society organisations (CSOs) that they need to counter the spread of disinformation, and identifying the media consumption habits of young people (15-24), main disinformation narratives and the usage of social medial platforms.

The goal of the training was to increase the capacities and communication skills of CSOs to develop and implement successful online public communication campaigns and activities. The topics that were processed included: Building communication strategy: theory & practice; Conveying the message using digital tools; and Data visualization workshop for creation of videos and info graphics.

The training was realized with the assistance of top experts in the field of communications and new media including Olga Chizhova, communications director, "Ukrainian Prism"; Mark Flyifl, President and CEO, Off the Record Strategies; and Franak Viacorca, Creative Director, RFE / RL's Belarusian Service.

The training was held at Hotel Opera House in Skopje.
