Macedonia is 29th member state of NATO! The ministers of foreign affairs of NATO's member states today unanimously extended an invitation for Macedonia to become a member of the Atlantic Alliance. The possible invitation for Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro will be reviewed at the following meeting in 2012.

This is the outcome of the second NATO Summit student simulation that took place on 1st October 2011 at the University of South-Eastern Europe in Tetovo organized by the Euro-Atlantic Council of Macedonia. After long negotiations, the Republic of Macedonia joined NATO after a previously signed resolution with Greece regarding the name dispute.

The NATO Student simulation was held at the level of foreign ministers and discussed the Enlargement at the Western Balkans. Forty students from the universities in Macedonia, as well as the guests from the Atlantic Associations of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Denmark and Montenegro, had an opportunity to participate at the simulation organized by the Euro-Atlantic Council of Macedonia, to express their knowledge and to improve their leadership skills. After the conclusion of the debate, the students in their roles of ministers of foreign affairs adopted a Declaration on stability and enlargement in which they agreed to continue the implementation of the euro-atlantic values by keeping the peace and stability.

The Euro-Atlantic Council of Macedonia, supported by NATO PDD, organizes the Second NATO Summit student simulation that is unique by its form in our country and gives the students an opportunity to adopt decisions which are of importance for the euro-atlantic family.

At the official opening, the students were greeted by Lazar Elenovski, president of EACM, H.E. Marriët Schuurman, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Netherlands to the Republic of Macedonia, as well as prof. Abdylmenaf Bedzeti, vice-chancellor of the University of South-Eastern Europe.
