On the 26th August 2011 the president of the Euro-Atlantic Council of Macedonia, Lazar Elenovski met the newly appointed ambassador of the Kingdom of Netherlands in the Republic of Macedonia, Marriet Shuurman.
At the very beginning of the meeting, Elenovski greeted the appointment, emphasized the previous productive cooperation between EACM and the embassy of the Kingdom of Netherlands and expressed his assurance for a future cooperation together with NATO Public Diplomacy Division, thus creating and developing a good network.

At the meeting the discussion was mostly about the role of the Euro-Atlantic Council of Macedonia and the creation of a positive public opinion regarding NATO, the different activities that were organized in the past as well as the following ones. Furthermore, ambassador Shuurman and president Elenovski discussed the defense budget, the importance of the regional cooperation, the situation in Africa, as well as, the "smart defense" concept that would provide a mobile, but efficient army.
