When the UNSCR 1325 was adopted in 2000 no one would have assumed that the number 1325 a decade later would become immensely recognizable throughout the world.

Today, when we speak about UNSCR 1325 it is with invisible ease that we discuss about the general matters of the humankind that genuinely pertain to our civilization.

1325 nowadays is a call for freedom, emancipation, equality and justice. The Resolution on the one hand is recognition for a millennium injustice, but on the other hand it is a clear signal for changes, symbolically accepted on the transit into the new millennium.

This is a millennium which should clearly mark the end of many issues from the previous millenniums if the humankind would like to move along the right path. That is only the road of freedom and progress. And in the future, they will be less possible without the equality and justice.

I am firmly convinced, that if throughout its rich history, the world had more equal representation of the both genders in the key positions and the key processes, human destruction would have been less. As for the past, this will be less impossible in the future. In the era of technological revolution and globalization, the differences blur and the interdependence grows.

Therefore, citizens of the world, men and women will build our civilization more united. The success will depend on how sooner they will understand that their complementarities lead to an accelerated and increased success.

Equal inclusion of the women in the security challenges of the world is an imperative if we want to have sooner completion of the general ideals for freedom and peace or if we want to have implementation of the UN Universal Declaration. Simply, the goal for the world peace goes through that path. There are a lot of evidences of the high level of democracy in the countries led by women, to the tenths of dictatorships around the world, where there is not a single woman leading them.

Our Balkan region, which is European at the same time, has been living at a crossroads in the last decades. It is a crossroad of the traditional zones and the integration in the euro-atlantic structures and sharing the common values with the free world. In order to go out-of-area it needs encouragements, which will certainly follow the consensual acceptance and implementation of the spirit and the values of the UNSCR 1325.

As atlantists that believe in those values, the Euro-Atlantic Council of Macedonia has decided to implement this project and leave a mark in the environment in which we work.
