The main goal of the NATO Academy 2020 is to make a significant contribution to the integration process and to strengthen the reforms and the legal framework in the field of security and defense in the long run through educational tools, as well as creating a platform for debate and discussion. The Academy will be of educational and informative character which will largely incorporate a practical component and will enable students to become acquainted with NATO, security and beyond with international politics. This 15-week Academy will cover matters of security, defense and euro-atlantic issues, the role and functioning of the Army of the Republic of North Macedonia, participation in international missions, gender aspects of defense and topics related to contemporary security threats such as cyber and hybrid threats, as well as the latest happenings in Ukraine. What will you acquire? Participants will gain high theoretical and practical knowledge in multiple areas such as NATO issues, security, defense and diplomacy; they will have the opportunity to listen to lectures on the above-mentioned subjects and to participate in debates and discussions. If possible, in line with the COVID-19 restrictions, participants will also be part of several study visits where they will gather information, talk one-on-one with members of the Army and MoD high officials and become acquainted with the basic Army tasks and responsibilities. The successful completion of the Academy will be awarded with a Certificate and most active participants will have a chance directly to participate in future youth activities. In addition, they need to submit a CV and a Short Letter of motivation for participation (up to 300 words). The Academy will officially start in May. The 3rd NATO Academy 2022 is part of the project Certain Partnerships in Uncertain Times: North Macedonia in NATO, sponsored by the NATO Public Diplomacy Division.
