The regional conference entitled: “Regional Post – ISAF engagement - Lessons learned and a legacy for A-5 countries future expeditionary missions” has successfully finished today, Thursday, 13.12.2012.

This regional conference was 2nd phase of the project.

This inspiring topic brought together NATO officials, government officials, NGOs representatives, research fellows, academia and think-tank community representatives, where they discussed their ideas and view on the topic related issues.

On this conference there were participants from NATO, Macedonia, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia and Serbia. Due to weather conditions the representative couldn’t attend the conference but they made their contribution via their call for papers.

The conference was opened by H.E. Fatmir Besimi, Minister for Defence of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Nicholas Williams, NATO Head of Section and H.E. Paul D. Wohlers, U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Macedonia.

After that the research team of the Euro – Atlantic Council of Macedonia presented their findings of the conducted research. This fact finding was cornerstone of the conference.

The regional aspect was presented by Mrs. Ratela Asllani from Albania, Col. Sinisa Ostojic from Bosnia and Herzegovina and BG Neven Kranjcec from Croatia.

The second day there were presentations from the head of the NATO liaison in the Republic of Macedonia, Col. Aleksandar Aleksandrov, the Vice Dean of the Military Academy “General Mihajlo Apostolski”, Col. Slavko Angelevski, Dr. Jadranka Dujic Frlan from the Atlantic Council of Croatia, Mr. Boris Viculin from the Atlantic Council of Serbia and Lt. Col. Marijanco Mitrovski from ARM.

The overall opinion and the feedback from the participants and the public was very positive, since they’ve managed to achieve successful networking and have had fruitful debates.
